Bush OKs Homeland Security Bill;
Will you be safer? or will you be in a Police State?

"The continuing threat of terrorism, the threat of mass murder on our own soil, will be met with a unified, effective response." So declared President George W. Bush on Monday as he signed the Homeland Security Act of 2002.

The purpose of this Department, he concluded, is to fight "a new kind of war."  To establish the new Department of Homeland Security, writes the New York Times' Richard W. Stevenson, "will require the largest reshuffling of governmental responsibilities since the founding of the Defense Department after World War II...."

 But what concerns many Americans isn't the amount of bureaucratic gymnastics that will take place, but the tremendous increase of Federal power that will be used in ways that necessarily erode liberty. Prior to the signing, Congressman Ron Paul warned (see full comments at the Real News 24/7 archives for Nov. 22, 2002) that among the dangers would be forced vaccinations.

Now, one day after the Act received presidential approval, a source from the Bush administration has told CNN that in the next few weeks the President is expected to announce the first two waves of mandatory small pox vaccinations, which would total as many as 10 million people--police, firefighters, health workers and other first responders, while the rest of Americans would be receive the shots on a voluntary basis...at least for now.

In his remarks, the President cautioned that "no department or government can completely guarantee our safety against ruthless killers, who plot and move in the shadows," yet we may soon have a government that increasingly will plot and move in the shadows.  For example, since 9-11, the government, while seeking to gain ever more information about its citizens, is attempting to limit what is known about certain high-ranking officials.

And then there is the role of the shadowy Information Awareness Office (IAO). Even its symbol suggests an occult "We can see you, but you can't see Us" mentality (a disembodied, all-seeing eye emerging from and peering out of a windowless pyramid). Being watched by an unseen eye is acceptable when the object of the observation is an enemy of our country, but it is nightmarish when it becomes a Big Brother-like intrusion into the private lives of U.S. citizens.

According to the New York Times, cited in the article "The Eye Sees You as the Public Is Kept Blind", the IAO "will provide intelligence analysts and law enforcement officials with instant access to information from Internet mail and calling records to credit card and banking transactions and travel documents, without a search warrant."

And further erosions of freedom--leading up to and including martial law--may be just around the corner, if Senator Richard Shelby's prediction on Meet the Press of a "spectacular" new terrorist attack proves true.

Israeli Soldiers Kill 8-year-old "Terrorist" in Nablus;
Eight Others Wounded, Youth Dehumanized

On Monday an eight-year-old boy was killed by Israeli occupation troops. Jihad Faqih died, reports the Times of Oman online news service in a cover story for Nov. 26th, after soldiers fired into a crowd of youths who defied the curfew and threw rocks. Eight others--all civilians--were also wounded, two seriously. The same article also notes that when the Israelis conducted a search of Yassar Sharaf, 25, for curfew violation, they forced him to strip and walk like a dog. According to the article: "Israeli military sources denied that Sharaf was forced to strip, saying checks with soldiers involved determined that he had been ordered only to raise his shirt to show whether he was carrying explosives. 'When he saw members of the media in the area, he decided to undress completely,' a military source said. Witnesses including two Palestinian firemen said Israeli soldiers stopped Sharaf after spotting him walking in a street in violation of curfew and, 'pointing their rifles at him, ordered him to start stripping'. 'Yasser told them he had nothing to hide but they continued shouting and readied their rifles to shoot,' fireman Samir El Lifdawi said by telephone from Nablus. 'They forced Yasser to take off all his clothes including his underwear...They ordered him to walk like a dog and then he burst into tears,' Lifdawi said." Which version are we to believe?

Michael Hoffman, in his book Judaism's Strange Gods, relates the story of Baruch Goldstein, the American-born Israeli Army officer who in 1994 slaughtered 40 unarmed Muslim civilians (other accounts report figures anywhere from 24 to 60 dead, with 29 mentioned most frequently)--men, women and children--as they knelt praying in a Hebron mosque.

Then he was killed by survivors who overwhelmed him. Far from being regarded as a mass murderer, he was given a hero's burial, as the Israeli army placed a guard of honor at his tomb (The 1999 dismantling of a shrine near his grave is reported by BBC News).

  Many to this day revere him as a saint. (But not all do. For a decidedly different view of the Goldstein killings and Israeli reaction to them, see Israel Shahak's The Background and Consequences of the Massacre in Hebron.)

An informative Arabic site carries the article, "Baruch Goldstein: The Holy Terrorist," and has a link chronicling numerous Israeli massacres from 1947-1999. But what's important to an understanding to the yesterday's mistreatment of Yassar Sharaf is to be found in remarks made after Goldstein's death. 

Hoffman notes that: "Goldstein was a disciple of the late Brooklyn rabbi Meir Kahane, who told Mike Wallace of CBS News that his teaching that Arabs are 'dogs' is derived 'from the Talmud.'" (Emphasis added.) Another rabbi, Yaacov Perrin was quoted days after the massacre by the New York Times as saying: "One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail." (See Hoffman, page 57.)

While it will be no consolation to anyone, this devaluing of human life is not always restricted to non-Jews. During the Second World War, Hebraic prisoners in Nazi concentration camps were in contact with Zionists on the outside, begging them to arrange their rescue. Their callous and selective abandonment by their co-religionists is well-documented, as on the webpage "The Brutal Zionist Role in the Holocaust."

There one can find such quotes as where the head of Jewish rescue efforts, Izaak Greenbaum, told the Zionist Executive Council: "One cow in Palestine is worth more than all the Jews in Poland." With regard to the incredible Nazi-Zionist collaboration, there are many books (such as "Perfidy" by the late Hollywood screen writer Ben Hecht), some emerging even recently, which detail the close collaboration between top Nazis, including Hitler himself, and top Zionist Jews intent on creating an Israeli state in the middle east. Saudi Arabia denies allegations it bankrolled
9-11 terrorists; denounces them as "Zionist lies"

"These are nothing but lies and baseless words," said Interior Minister Prince Nayef, in an article appearing as a cover story in the Nov. 26 online edition of the Times of Oman.

High-Tech Deception of the Masses
or . . . how those famous 9-11 cell phone calls could have been faked

"Lying with Pixels," an article by Ivan Amato appearing in 2000 on the Boston College website, carries the subheading: "Seeing is no longer believing. The image you see on the evening news could well be a fake--a fabrication of fast new video-manipulation technology." (As if they need any more help in doctoring the news!)

Digital deception has long been possible in audio recordings  as well, writes military intelligence expert William H. Arkin in The Washington Post's website for Feb 1, 1999, and has wartime applications. This technology could have been used to create voice simulations for the cell phone calls and radio transmissions allegedly received from the doomed planes of Sept. 11.

 According to an article carried last summer at Geek.com, Voice Cloning is now possible with AT&T Lab's new Natural Voice Text-to-Speech Engine. "The software," declares the article, "can reproduce 'the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice' so well that it can recreate voices."

Wars-R-Us: Iraq to be only a Warm-up for the Real Conflict

First, it was the War on Terrorism. Now, President Bush moves steadily towards a reckoning with Saddam Hussein, which prompts the cry: "One war at a time, Mr. President!"

But there are solid indicators that he won't be stopping with Iraq. According to Eric Margolis of the Toronto Sun, if Israeli's hard-line ruling Likud Party and a small but powerful clique within the Pentagon have their way, far from concluding with Iraq, U.S. troops will  be positioned to go after the real enemy. That is, if the Establishment is able to continue creating war psychosis amongst Americans.

Speaking of the manufacture of war (and other forms of mass) psychosis, "The Induction of Civic Insanity in the 'Age of the Pharaoh,'" an article by Michael Hoffman, examines the tie-in between the recent alleged Osama bin Laden tape, where Bush is referred to as a Pharaoh, and certain features of our nation's flourishing Cryptocracy (that is, Secret Government), including its latest feature, the Information Awareness Office (I.A.O.), with its Orwellian logo--the Masonic All-Seeing Eye in the Pyramid casting a gaze down upon a smaller Planet Earth.

 It'ss as if to say: "Attention, the New World Order is now officially in command." (See the related I.A.O. article above in the section concerning the Homeland Security Act, including a link to a full-color reproduction of the Office's logo. In 1984, George Orwell's novel about a totalitarian society, I.A.O.'s had a direct equivalent in the Ministry of Information, which routinely watched people in their homes by way of the telescreen--a two-way communication between Big Brother's all-intrusive government and the people.)

Pro-peace Israeli Professor Called "Arab Lover" by the Hardliners

In "Peace has become a dirty word," an article appearing in the Nov. 26 e-edition of The Guardian, David Newman, who teaches at Ben Gurion University, relates how he and other Israelis who seek a Palestinian state have been accused of being "traitors" by the Zionist Establishment.

He urges Palestinians to oppose fundamentalist extremists in their midst, even as he and other anti-occupation Jews attempt to do the same. "Those of us who oppose the continuation of occupation" writes Newman, "try to impress on our Palestinian friends how important it is for them to raise their voice against fundamentalist terrorism. Public opinion in Israel must see that there are people on the other side who oppose terrorism and are not afraid to raise their voices for fear of being branded collaborators."

An Important E-Book on Israel, Zionism
 

The utter contempt suffered by Palestinians at the hands of many Jews in Israel is a daily cross. Living there may be hazardous to the health of non-Jews -- literally. The late Jerusalem University professor Israel Shahak, a survivor of the Nazis' Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, relates a story illustrative of this in his Jewish History, Jewish Religion: The Weight of 3000 Years -- the incident, in fact, that triggered his activism for civil rights in Israel:
 
"I had personally witnessed an ultra-religious Jew refuse to allow his phone to be used on the Sabbath in order to call an ambulance for a non-Jew who happened to have collapsed in his Jerusalem neighbourhood. Instead of simply publishing the incident in the press, I asked for a meeting which is composed of rabbis nominated by the State of Israel. I asked them whether such behavior was consistent with their interpretation of the Jewish religion. They answered that the Jew in question had behaved correctly, indeed piously, and backed their statement by referring me to a passage in an authoritative compendium of Talmudic laws, written in this century. I reported the incident to the main Hebrew daily, Ha'aretz, whose publication caused a media scandal."

Reading Shahak's insights into the mindset that willfully ignores the plight of others is (along with Hoffman's book mentioned above) must reading for those who seek to understand of the thinking behind the persecution of the Palestinians. There is far more to the Middle East crisis than a mere dispute over squatters' rights!

It's been called the greatest mystery of the 20th century and after nearly four decades, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy continues to attract intense speculation. Despite the Warren Commission's official pronouncement that JFK was the victim of a lone gunman,  myriad conspiracy theories  have been advanced from every imaginable angle, all claiming to have the "true" version of events.

With each passing year, the hopes of ever settling the matter in a definitive way grows more remote, so that just separating the known facts from the myths has become a worthy, if daunting, endeavor. One fascinating attempt at this is Secrets of a Homicide,  a computer generated 3-D "virtual" reenactment of the assassination.  JFK assassination film restored.

Five Who Cheered the 9-11 Attacks
 
In the moments after the 9-1 terrorist attacks on the WTC, five suspicious young men were arrested by N.J. police. It turns out they had been "celebrating" and "making mocking gestures" as the Twin Towers collapsed. They even took turns having their smiling faces photographed with the devastated New York City skyline serving as the backdrop. Five young Palestinians applauding the acts of their brethren fighting for the Jihad ?
 
No, the controlled media wouldn't let you hear the end of it were that the case. Actually, the men turned out to be five Israelis, later deported for visa violations.  But why would Israelis cheer attacks supposedly done by Muslim extremists? They weren't just any Israelis, though, but ones with ties to the Mossad, Israeli intelligence.

One of the few stories about it that actually made it on the Establishment's programming was ABC News's "Were Israelis Detained on Sept. 11 Spys?" (Presented here as archived on David Irving's independent Focal Point website.)

Surprisingly, the connection was acknowledged by the prominent Jewish publication, Forward, in its article "Spy Rumors Fly on Gusts of Truth." It should be remembered in this regard that the motto of the Mossad is "By the way of deception, thou shall do war."

Significant Quotes about Gun Control

Beware the government that seeks to disarm its own patriotic, law-biding citizens. Contrary to the members of the gun control lobby, who would have Americans believe that only troops, police officers and a government sanctioned militia are permitted by the Second Amendment to "keep and bear arms," George Washington declared: "A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." Moon Madness & Other Humor

The two videos in this part are to bring a little comic relief to an otherwise serious site. We intend to have similar features on a regular basis. The first is by promoters of a conspiracy theory we don't necessarily believe. We've included it here because it's so amusing (no matter what its origin) and because it is interesting to speculate on who went to the trouble to make it. (For Real News 24/7 visitors who cannot play video on there computers, there is a page of text worth reading.)

The people who are promoting this video claim that man has never set foot on the moon and that NASA's Apollo 11 landing was really filmed in a studio. What we have here could be called the "One small step" outtake, as it purports to be a botched attempt to record what are claimed to be Neil Armstrong's first words on the moon (at one point, careful listeners will be able to detect someone in the distance--supposedly a director--yelling "Cut!")

The next video from the humorous Australian "CNNN News" has reporter Julian Morrow asking average Americans a number of simple questions about world affairs. The results will surprise only those who believe public schools are doing a superior job educating our nation. Many of the responses are quite hilarious; hilarious, that is, until one realizes that these "without a clue" people and countless others like them are answering public opinion polls, voting, and (in theory) helping to decide the future of our country.

Now that's a scary thought. No wonder the "What Really Happened" website carries this clip with the heading: "THE NATION IS DOOMED!"
